In this special winter inspired workshop, learn about The Three Friends of Winter 歲寒三友,  a traditional art motif found in Chinese painting that consists of the pine 松, bamboo 竹, and plum blossom 梅.
These three plants are grouped together in the context of winter because they do not wither but flourish even in the harshest of cold weathers, in the midst of snow storms. As a result, together they have become a symbol of steadfastness, perseverance, and resilience in Chinese culture.
Cranes 鹤 which are knonwn to have a long life span are often painted together with the three friends of winter as a symbol of endurance and longevity.
 
In these 4 condensed classes, learn to paint pine needles, the plum blossom flower bamboo leaves and small cranes to create a perfect winter piece on a small, elegant  traditonal folding rice paper alblum (see photos above). You will learn to use Chinese ink aswell as 5 of the major Chinese color pigments .
 
*Sutiable for:
1) Those staying in HK for only  a short period of time or 
2) Those who are only interested in a one-off short condensed course on Chinese Painting.
